Mike Smith, who has been the Foundations Community Development Officer since March 2014 is leaving the Foundation at the end of January to take up a new challenge in a similar role at Curzon Ashton FC.
During Mike’s time at the Foundation his positive attitude and commitment in undertaking his role and responsibilities has seen Stalybridge Celtic FC being well represented in the community through his many projects including After School Football sessions at local Primary Schools, Walking Football teams for the over 50’s/over 60’s and Adult-Pan Disability football teams, with the over 50’s and 60’s walking football teams often playing on the Bower Fold pitch at half time on Match Days.
Amongst Mikes most successful projects were his Presentations at local Primary/Junior Schools to pupils and staff informing them of the Foundation’s role in the community resulting in projects and competitions at Bower Fold for the pupils and the opportunity of introducing the pupils and their parents to the football club via his child and parent match day ticket initiative as well as pupils being offered the chance to become Match Day Ball Boys and Mascots.
Mikes most recent successful project is the introduction of the monthly Man v Fat programme which provides men with the opportunity to address their general health.
The Trustees of Stalybridge Celtic Foundation thank Mike for his work in the community, but also his contribution to the Football Club during his time as its Community Development Officer and wish him all the best on his new appointment
