Meet the Trustees

Brian Coll

My name is Brian Coll, I am 63 years old and live in Hollingworth, I am married with two grown up sons and two grandchildren, I am MD of NPL Europe Ltd, a business which imports paper from Australia.

Sport has been my lifelong interest and passion, starting with Football and progressing through Badminton, Squash, Cricket, Golf, and latterly Walking Football with Vintage Celtic, Tameside’s first Walking Football Club, where I am one of the founder members.

It is an honour to be involved with the Stalybridge Celtic Foundation as a trustee, where I hope to combine my lifelong love of sport and football in particular, with some of the commercial acumen I have gained over the years, to strengthen the community development at Bower Fold alongside Mike Smith and the other trustees.

The work begins now that we have achieved the initial objective of attaining charity status.

Mary Gibbons

I am a partner in MG Domestic which has been trading in Tameside for 31 years, and have been involved in sponsorship at Stalybridge Celtic for a few years, from ground boards up to having the company name on both the training kit and the first team shirts. As a company, we are extremely proud to be the new sponsors of the South Terrace at Bower Fold from this season. I have been a football fan all my life, it has been a real passion which has seen me become involved in the game at one level or another for almost 25 years.

I worked with our Community Officer, Mike Smith at Stockport County when he was working for their Community Foundation back in the days when Andy Kilner was the manager. I carried out several roles at Edgeley Park over the years including a spell as acting Chairwoman of the club.

I spent over 14 years as a Governor at Woodley Primary School and Werneth High School and for many years I have been the Chair of the Steve Landell’s Memorial Fund and was also the Chair of the very successful CBC ‘networking’ business club for several years.

As the Community department is becoming more successful each year, Mike has asked me to become a trustee, an offer I am delighted to accept. I look forward to working with the great team here at the club.

Mike Smith (Community Development Officer)

I’ve been at Stalybridge Celtic Foundation now for six years (March 2020) having previously worked just down the M67/M60 at Stockport County FC for 19 years, 15 of them as Community Officer at Edgeley Park.

I’m passionate about football and in particular a team from across the Tyne from my home town of Gateshead, that play in Black and White!

It is my job to take Stalybridge Celtic FC out of Bower Fold and into the Community, using the ‘Power of Football’ to engage with all aspects of our Community and raise the profile of the club in and around not only, Stalybridge, but Tameside in general.

A football club is more than four stands and a pitch.
